Raymond, Johnny, and Noah have decided to call their new band Dirt Dress. They’re set to play with DiGiTS in May in at Pehrspace, not sure on the date yet, but we’ll update the site as soon as we know.

Johnny (of the now-defunct Attractives) and Andrew (Anchors for Architects) hit the streets in the protest in L.A. last weekend (March 17).

It appears as though Johnny, Noah (also of the Attractives) and Raymond (of the Primos) are almost ready to start recording and playing out in their new band. We don’t know if there is name for the band yet, but we do know that they are planning to record tracks for a 7″ that should come out on Papermade this summer. Keep your eyes and ears out for upcoming shows and a band name.

We are now offering the Primos live CD-R EP, voted best album of 2006 by “Those Whose Opinions Matttttters Most Post.”

Two other mystery bands?

a n c h o r s f o r a r c h i t e c t s—Shows all March!!! They are going to be working on new material in April and looking for a new aux percussionist/ sound effects person. It’s true. Although Raymond (the Primos) and Alice (the Eagle and Talon) have been amazing on the aux drums, they need to focus on their upcoming albums and Anchors needs a full-time member. Email them at 123@anchorsforarchitects.com if think you’re the one.

The Primos—NEW!!! EP is halfway through the recording process. We’ve been told that the drums were tracked out in the desert. Look for it this summer. Until then go see them live.

the CaTs of tHe wORLd WesSSt—Rumored Recording?? It’s hard to know for sure what’s happening with the cats of the world west, but we’re fairly certain they’re recording something this summer. We’ll post show dates and songs as soon as they are made available to us.

The Cats of the World—are making out on a beach. We are trying to get some footage of their last show at the White House in S.C. And we believe that we will soon be receiving the only recorded tracks they ever made. They are even more elusive than their WesSSt friends/enemies.

January 2008: AM is going on a west coast tour with No Paws No Lions Jan. 4-18. Please check their myspace pages for specific times and dates in your area.

Yes, Anchors for Architects has stopped playing shows. However, their last release (Moutza!) is some of their best material to date—probably the most accurate recording of their sound and only second to seeing them live. This is limited stock. Order here.

The Dirt Dress cassettes are in and the artwork is almost finished. We are really excited here. The “Theme Songs” EP is one our best releases to date. We’ll keep you posted on any preordering options when we get closer to the release date.

December 2007: Live From Little Tokyo, Volume 2, just had its record release show and is now available here to order. The CD and show also got some Pasadena Weekly press, now available here to read.

anchors for architect’s retirement show is on THURSDAY, DECEMBER 13, with THE PRIMOS. The show is also a fundraiser for pehrspace. $5, all ages, doors at 8pm.

“First Weekend September” This past weekend Anchors for Architects played at the benefit show for Brizzahh (of the band Child Pornography) along with Pizza, Bon Voyage, Foot Village, Whitman, John Thill, I.E., Tik///Tik, hosted by Sean Carnage at Pehrspace. It was a really great show for a really great cause. We all wish Brizzahh the best. It also seems to have been the only show that night that had AC. Not far from Pehrspace, AM did their thing at the Smell with the Muslims and Mika Miko, another great line-up. Dirt Dress also played a show on Saturday, way out in the desert. The only details I could get about the show was that it was hot, which isn’t that surprising considering the whole desert thing.

Dirt Dress and AM took to the road at the end of August. AM stuck mostly to the Bay Area playing Edinburgh Castle and spending the rest of their time doing that guerrilla thing they do so well. The shows marked the release of their debut album, 1998, now on cassette tape [order online]. Dirt Dress met up with AM at Edinburgh Castle and spent the rest of their time playing in and around San Luis Obispo. All in all, the road was good to both bands.

The Papermade crew, along with Sean Carnage and Adam H., got their DIY on this past weekend and built a new wall for Pehrspace. In the hopes of keeping the fuzz and neighbors off our backs, it was decided that a wall had to be built to dampen the sounds. Hands down the man of the hour is Noah (Dirt Dress). His diligence and unparalleled skills with saw and drill really made the wall happen. Together with Raymond (the Primos, Dirt Dress), Andrew (Anchors for Architects), and Gerry (the Primos), a crack team of wall builders had been assembled. Although talk of insulating the wall with teddy bears, walky talkies, and dead bodies had been discussed, reason prevailed and all decisions led to a structurally sound frame and panel. Here are a few things we learned as we built our structure: First off, it is physically impossible to resist turning into a prop-comic if you have a stud finder. There are endless variations on the same joke. Don’t try to avoid it, just go with it. Secondly, Anchor Bolts aren’t a myth. They do exist, oddly enough, though they are only referred to as “Anchor Bolts,” not “grounding bolts” or “whats its?” or “thingies.” Thirdly, be careful when converting square feet to feet or you might accidentally buy 26 extra panels of plywood. Big thanks to Gerry, Raymond, and Raymond’s cell phone calculator for averting this potential train wreck.
